Etch A Sketch Pictures
Linc's drawing have all of a sudden started to take on the actaul form of what he is drawing. He drew a house the other day and although wonky it had a roof and door.
His people are now the classic head with arms and legs coming out. To say I'm both excited and sad would be an understatement. My little boy is getting so big and clever!
This is Poppy. Eyes done with his circle stamper. Poppy even has eye brows.
This is Baker Bob, complete with arms, legs, ears and hairy top lip.

An Introduction to Electronic Games
I'd hoped to prevent it for as long as possible. Then I discovered that Baker Bob has been playing bowling with them on his phone for a long while now. Drat!
Looks like they have fun though!

The Almost Severed Finger
The Monday before my first Bachelor exam the boys' were up at 6am as per usual. They were lounging in my bed watching Toy Story 3 until DeeDee woke up when I got a call from Baker Bob... "Don't panic, but I'm in hospital. I cut my finger."
After a deep breath I replied, "Oh no. How many stitches?"
"I... I think it's a bit worse than that..."
48hrs later the resulting micro surgery discovered he'd cut through more than 60% of his left index finger. He'd gone through all the nerves, artery and tendon and hit the bone. The tendon had snapped back down into the tissue of the palm of his hand so the surgeon had to open up his palm to get it out to reattach it.
Much to Baker Bob's excitement he woke up, after they injected the area with local anesthetic, and was able to test his tendon while his finger was still open. So, excluding his palm stitches, the zig zag opening down his finger has a total of 30 stitches.
So he left hospital Tuesday night bandaged to the elbow and is now in long term physiotherapy and has a special plastic moulded cast.
Needless to say that very little blogging has been getting done!!

He's struggling with doing a lot of things for himself (you'd be surprised how often you need both hands for a task) and he needs help with his physiotherapy maintenance. After two weeks, this is what his finger looks like.... (look away if you're squeamish).
Needless to say that very little blogging has been getting done!!

Head Banging Minions
Today I came across this clip on Ninemsn.
Can I just say that my 3 children have been 'dancing' like this to heavy metal music since they were in utero. Try as I might to change their preferences in music, Baker Bob's genres remain their favourites!
Not even meal times are immune to head banging. When Baker Bob cooks he likes to have inspirational music going.

The Annabel Challenge - Welsh Rarebit (Special grilled cheese)
All 3 kidlets were napping and Baker Bob mentioned he was hungry.
So, armed with my Annabel cookbook I had a flick through to find something we could have for afternoon tea. It needed to be minimal fuss with maximum taste.
Annabel's Welsh 'Rabbit' recipe caught by eye. Who doesn't love grilled cheese on toast - only better.
Baker Bob offered to grate the cheese if I mixed up the other ingredients
It was yummy and went down really well, even if we didn't turn them into rabbits. Think this definitely one I'll have to try on the kidlets. They love cheese but they're not usually keen on grilled cheese. Maybe if I cookie cutter the slices or turn it into a rabbit they'll be more inclined to give it a try!

Last Night I Was Out After Dark
I was most unexpectantly surprised by a night out last night. (No one can accuse me of being a vampire. I'm only ever out of the house when it's daylight.)
It had apparently been organised since Mother's Day.
Persumably because I didn't really have a mother's day, whole other blog entry.
Baker Bob got home from work and asked me if the kid's could have an early, simple dinner and then he'd cook us a nice, late dinner. Great I thought. The boys hadn't slept for their nap and Eva has been a bit cranky so an early night for them was a good idea.
While the kids ate I chatted to Grandma, who was waiting to be picked up from work by Grandpa. (Or so I thought). Kid's in bed, Baker Bob leaves to pick up the ingredient's for our special dinner. 5 minutes later he returns with Grandma and Grandpa in tow. I still didn't twig until Grandma annouced "Now that your babysitters are here you guys can go."
In a daze of shock (It's not often people can get away with keeping a secret from me, especially Baker Bob), I was ushered out the door. I had no idea where we were going and when we were half way there I realised that my pants leg and shoulder had half eaten pear smudged into them. Score one for me!

We had dinner at the 'old faithful' Pancake Palour and then popped in to see the movie Source Code. Neither of us knew anything about the movie but I'd mentioned that I wanted to see it during the week because of it's great reviews. (Even the super critical reviewer at the Herald Sun gave it 4 and 1/2 stars!)
It really was an excellent movie. We got home a bit after 12am and we were both exhausted. We said cheerio to the babysitters and fell into bed. Spent and content!

Family Resemblance
Baker Bob turned 32 yesterday and to celebrate I'm embarrassing him by posting this cute photo from when he was little.
Do you think Mans looks like Baker Bob?
They are almost the exact same age in these photos.
Well at least there's no question that Mans is Baker Bob's and not the milkman's. Linc on the other hand....

Daddy's Girl ~ (And my 100th blog post!)
Eva is the definition of a Daddy's Girl.
Other than the fact that I'm still a bit of a milking cow, she only really has eyes for her father and apparently that's the way it should stay... forever.
Though, I don't like his chances of sheltering her from attention when she's older. She has him wrapped around her little finger and all she'll have to do is batter an eyelid and Daddy will melt.
Even now she crinkles up one corner of her mouth and off he goes, instant puddle of goop!

Guess I was too subtle
Staring at my easter baking destroyed kitchen, getting ready to clean it for the 4th time today, while Baker Bob sits on the couch and plays video games.
Me ~ "You know why I like baking when Dad is here?"
Baker Bob ~ "Why?"
Me ~ "He cleans up after me as I go. I'll turn around and the dishes I just dumped in the sink are clean, or the floured bench I've finished with has been cleared away"
Baker Bob ~ "Guess you better bake when your Dad's around then hey....."

A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet
Nicknames have always been raff in our household. Just look at Baker Bob. I'm starting to think that he actually thinks his name is Bob. He calls me 'Sepi'. It's a long story involving poo so I won't bore you with the details on how that one came about.
Regretfully the kids have many nicknames, which can make things a little confusing sometimes. In 2 years these are the range of nicknames Manning and Lincoln have had...
Eva got the nickname Diva even before she was born. It was, and still is a true representation of her personality. This has further been adapted to Divado. (Baker Bob also calls her Chunky Monkey on occasion which I think is going to give her a complex).
I suppose it shouldn't be a shock that Eva's poor confused brothers call her something else entirely. They call her "DeeDee". It is one of the cutest things I have seen these siblings do. Manning calls Lincoln "Ghinkin" and Lincoln calls Manning "Man". The 2 boys quite often get their identities confused too and call themselves by their brothers names. But DeeDee is said with such affection from both her brothers that it makes my heart melt.

Day 11 - Sunday 20th - Heading Home with a Day Trip on the Spirit
Never again will I travel on a day trip on the Spirit again. Will never be going on a romantic cruise either. Both Baker Bob and I were terribly seasick. The swell WAS pretty bad with water lapping up onto the decks but gee I'm glad our kids have a better constitution than we do.
Baker Bob spent basically the whole trip either being sick or sleeping. Eventually the kids went down for a nap (as we had a deluxe cabin again, thank goodness) and I finally bombed. It was also extremely lucky that I brought the laptop and some DVDs onboard. They were my salvation.
By the time they went down for their nap, I think the kids did start to feel a bit green, or bored, or both.
I think we all missed Poppy but we were glad to get home to our own beds in the end. ( Well, we enjoyed our bed, the kids were happy to see their toy room!)
It was a long day too as we left for Devonport at 4:30am (3 hour drive) and didn't get off the boat until 7:30pm.

Day 4 - Sunday 13th - Dave & Suez's After Wedding Party
This I was able to attend. We all had fun catching up and the kids made some new friends.
Suez surprised me by giving me her bouquet and telling me she was treating me to a make over the following day. She's such a special person. Couldn't believe on HER weekend she was making me feel special!
Unfortunately I gave Baker Bob the camera with the instructions to "Take Photos" He took all of 5 photos and so I've had to rely on other people's photos of the kids (Thanks again Anne!). He didn't even get any of the "Day After Bride". I swear, hopeless!

A Night with Mr Bubble
Last night Baker Bob and I went out. Together. Without the children.
However there was no romance or smooching or deep and meaningful conversations.
We went to see Michael Buble in concert at Rod Lavera. So I sent most of the time making doe eyes at the stage, not Baker Bob. Poor neglected Baker Bob.
By the end of the night we were spent. I can't remember the last time I was out of the house after 10pm. (Edited to add I just remembered when it was, we went to the same place in September last year to see Metallica!) And then the West Gate Bridge was down to one lane, so at 11:40 on a Tuesday night the bridge was at a stand still. Took us an hour to get over the bridge.
That aside we started the night with a drink. My first alcohol drink since Jan 2008. Not that I've been counting or anything. I chose a Blue Lagoon daiquiri and it was served in this ultra cool light up glass.
Baker Bob also splashed out and bought me a program. I love to get programs from concerts I go to.
It's my thing.
Anyway our seats were 3 rows from the back but it was still a great view, and we got some decent photos with my out-of-date fujifilm camera. Some highlights for me were his cover of 'Billy Jean' and the accompanying Michael Jackson dance moves, crowd favourite 'Everything' and his new single 'Hollywood'. He even finished his encore by singing without a microphone. That was quite unexpected. He really is a brilliant performer, and I'm even positive Metal-mad Baker Bob enjoyed it. (He even said as much but don't tell anyone.)

A Baker Bob Moment: The baby years
The boys love nuddy time.
Before they go to bed of a night they get to roll around on the floor and, depending on how warm the house is, sometimes we let them roll around nude.
Obviously close supervision is needed and there has been a couple of times when they were younger that we had some "accidents".
Tonight I left Baker Bob in charge. I went to eat my dinner before it went completely cold and left Baker Bob to bum watch.
All of a sudden I hear Baker Bob yell, "Oh My God! There's poo!"
I walk in to find Baker Bob running across the room with Mans dangling between his arms.
I look around to find a nice poo sitting on the carpet, centimetres away from Linc.
"What are you doing?!" I yell as I reach Linc as his fingers close around the poo.
Baker Bob bends Mans over, with his bum pointing at me and says, "Look it came from here!"
"Put a nappy on him and next time don't run off and leave your son to eat poo!"
A hand wash and sterilise, and a poo clean up and it was back to playtime before bed.

A Baker Bob Moment
Baker Bob is known for his amusing antics which sometimes verge on stupidity. I love him to death but he does do some ridculous things some times. On my old blog I used to write one every week and I'm going to try and start this up again, so you can delve into the world that is Baker Bob.
For the first entry I'm going to dig up a blast from the past but one of my favourites.
The Epic Battle - 11/12/2007
Sometimes the ridiculousness of a situation far outweighs the consequences and all you can do is look at the lighter side and laugh.
Upon returning home on Friday night, I turned on the lounge room light and headed straight to the computer.
As I was totally engrossed, Baker Bob decided to call his dad.The next thing I know there is a popping noise, something hits me in the back of the head before exploding, showering me with hard granules and the room goes dark.
I'm in shock and have no idea what happened. Baker Bob, after cowering in the corner for an hour, finally agrees to fill me in on the details.
After hanging up the phone, Baker Bob had noticed a moth making swooping attacks on the light bulb. In all his wisdom he'd decided to take off his t-shirt and defend the light bulb with fierce integrity, swinging his t-shirt with masculine might.
But his plan backfired. The moths onslaught had been too much, pushing Baker Bob further and further to the brink, until the unimaginable happened... his t-shirt collided with the very light bulb Baker Bob had sworn to protect.
Its glass armour had gone sprawling across the room, hitting my furious head, shattering it into a thousand little pieces, which promptly wiggled their way under my clothes.
The exposed filament had flickered with its dying breath before casting the room into darkness .
It would later be reported that it had been a brutal battle of wits and courage; that both parties had parried and thrust until their bodies become drenched in sweat and they were running on pure adrenalin. But it would be said, that despite the hero’s best efforts, the moth had come up trumps.
